The New Addition…. AKA new ride!

Yes, it has finally happened. After us having one car for the first year of marriage we have made our first  “big'” purchase. It was super nerve racking I must say but now that it is over with not sure what all my stress was about, but I guess that’s part of being a woman.

We bought an 08’ Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4, and we love it. After going through the list of cars we wanted and what we could afford this is what it came down to. My biggest concern was enough space to put at least 2 kids in. No, this is not a pregnancy announcement and you will not see one of those on our blog for at least 2 more years. Glad we settled that! HAHA It has plenty of space to me and of course it has the 4wd, biggest request of Shane’s. I think we will get lots of good use and years out of this sweet Jeep. Where did we buy it you ask? We took the risk and went through the auction. It saved us probably a good $2500 to $3000. Good Deal!! That may have been part of my nerves, not being able to see it and just trusting the guy that it looked in good condition. We are super happy with our purchase and can’t wait to take him camping and on any road trip!

He was injured….injured bad!

I know that most of you blog about your children and what they are up to but since I don’t have any children my dog is as good as it gets story wise. So our sweet little mini dachshund had to go in for surgery last week to have a benign tumor removed from his paw. The poor little guy still days later refuses to put any weight on his paw, but has mastered being a 3 legged dog. Along with having a little surgery he got some weird skin irritation that he can’t seem to stop licking and scratching at. Let’s just say I have given him extra love this week. I am pathetic, he’s a dog I know! haha

Camping

A couple of weeks ago Shane and I decided that it was time for a summer camping and fly fishing trip up to Duck Creek. We had received a tent, stove, air mattress, etc. for wedding gifts and have been super excited to use them. Guess it only took 11 months for it to finally happen. We headed up Friday night and came back Sunday afternoon. We took the little wiener man, Diesel, with us and had a blast just the 3 of us. Shane was anxious to get up early  Saturday morning to go out and fish but for me that’s way too early and I slept in. Saturday we just spent the day enjoying the outdoors, hiking around, fishing, and watching Diesel chase chipmunks and butterflies. Overall it was such a nice relaxing weekend and we surely didn’t want to come home.    IMG_1351  IMG_1353P1191219P1191217P1191207IMG_1360 IMG_1373IMG_1363  IMG_1380

Braves Trip to California

My family and I (minus Shane and brother Justin) took a quick little trip over the weekend to California for a traditional trip to watch the Braves play the Dodgers. It happened this year to have fallen on my nephew Carter’s birthday. Beach, baseball, and fun is a perfect birthday for a 3 year old or even a 23 year old like me! We spent Saturday morning/afternoon at Venice Beach playing in the sand and enjoying the sun. Followed by a visit to Dodger Stadium, where of course my Braves won 9 to 3. A win always makes for a good trip. Sunday we went over to the Santa Monica Pier, Carter got to enjoy many fun little rides. Enjoy the few pictures that I did take of the cutest kiddos you will ever see. Love them!

Bishop, are you sure?!

As I posted a about a week or so ago we met with the bishop. I thought for sure that nursery was going to be our place, but some how it is the COMPLETE opposite for me. The last thing that I could have ever imagined myself doing... Relief Society Teacher. Seriously, I have never taught anything in my life. But to start out teaching the ladies of the ward, SCARY! I was in complete shock as my sweet husband just laughed at me and the panicked look on my face. Ask me to teach little kids or even YW and I would have been SO happy! HAHA I guess that's exactly why I got it. Obviously someone thinks I have some potential of being a good teacher for the fine ladies of my ward, but I have yet to see it. I guess I do have some perks to my calling of only have to teach I assume once a month, no mutual or activity days to attend. Just gives me more time to stress the rest of the month about my lesson and how nervous, sweaty, and red faced I'll be.
Oh that's right you are probably asking yourself well what calling did Shane receive, NOTHING. Yes you heard right he did not get a calling. I think that may have been why I was even more frustrated about getting RS teacher is because he can just enjoy church and not have to stress about anything. This post may seem like I am absolutely angry with what I will be doing, but honestly I have come to grips with it for now and will just try and make the best out of it. Hopefully I don't mess up to miserably with my first lesson. Wish me luck!

Happy Hunting

trophyelkAs many of you know I married into the Huntsman family, which means I married a man that LOVES to hunt, fish, hike, and do anything outdoors. But that is nothing new to me since I grew up with a dad, brothers, grandpa, uncles, and cousins who lived for it just like Shane. Yesterday, Shane calls me and says guess who scored a elk tag this season? Me being retarded said, “Who?” He just laughs and says apparently I did. And all I can think is man this is coming back to bite me right in the big ol’ butt.

I have always told him that I was not a fan of hanging animal heads in a house. If you have a office in our house one day, go for it. I just don’t want it hanging in our living room to scare our future children, etc. Plus honestly a big deer head doesn’t really match much decor that I see in a house of ours.Well about a month ago we were visiting some of Shane’s family up in Utah. His uncle and cousin got very nice big elk last season and had the heads hanging proudly on the walls of their homes. I am not going to lie that looked pretty darn sweet hanging on the wall. Anyways, I told Shane that weekend that if he could ever shoot something that big and nice looking, we could totally get it all fixed up to hang in our house. Guess the  Nevada Department of Wildlife showed me this year. So, there is a very good possibility that we could be having one of these hanging in our home. How funny would that be to walk into our tiny one bedroom apartment and have this huge Elk plastered on the wall. Pretty sure it may take up the whole stinkin’ wall.

But honestly I couldn’t be happier for him because I know this is a HUGE deal to get a tag like this. He got the perfect area and even the late hunt. Which doesn’t mean a lot to me and probably doesn’t mean a lot to you either. So happy hunting this fall in the Huntsman house. (That means I’ll be spending lots of weekends alone as he finds that oh so perfect trophy elk!)

I guess as long as my house doesn’t look like the one below, I’ll be ok! Eddie Smith home
